Co-PLAN and POLIS in POLITO

In November 2024, Politecnico di Torino (POLITO) hosted the second teaching exchange as part of the GreenFORCE activities. This collaborative effort brought together experts from Co-PLAN, Institute for Habitat Development, and Polis University in Albania, including Ms. Anila Bejko, Dr. Ledio Allkja, PhD candidate Ogerta Gjiknuri, and Dr. Merita Toska.

The exchange featured a series of academic activities, such as lectures, seminars, and collaborative meetings, held at the Interuniversity Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning (DIST) at POLITO. Below are the highlights of these engagements:

Lectures Delivered by the experts

  • Dr. Ledio Allkja (Spatial and Urban Planning Expert and Lecturer at Polis University), delivered lectures on two key topics:
  • Spatial Planning in Albania” as part of the course “Planning theory and comparative planning studies”
  • Intersection between Spatial Planning and Disaster Risk Reduction” in the course “Planning for the Adaptation and Energy Transition of Territories” led by prof. Giancarlo Cotella. 
  • Dr. Merita Toska (Expert on Economic Development and Finances and Vice Dean and Lecturer at Polis University) provided a lecture titled “From planning to implementation of regional development: the environmental and social cost-benefit analysis (SE-CBA) for regional investment project appraisal” during the course “Economic Feasibility of Plans and Projects,” led by Prof. Francesca Abastante and Dr. Beatrice Mecca.
  • PhD Candidate Ogerta Gjiknuri (Financial Manager at Co-PLAN and Lecturer at Polis University) delivered a lecture on”Disaster risk management and climate change adaptation financing” as part of the same course.

Public Seminar: The EU Integration Path in the Western Balkans

A key event of the exchange was a seminar on “EU Integration Path in the Western Balkans”, featuring:

  • Anila Bejko (Executive Director of Co-PLAN and Lecturer at Polis University) 
  • Erblin Berisha (Assistant Professor at POLITO) and
  • Dorian Jano (Jean Monnet Professor EnlargEU)
  • Sanda Simic (Ministry of European Integration, Serbia)

This seminar focused on the importance of the EU Integration Path from 2000 until today by exploring the different gaps and future perspectives of EU enlargement.

Collaborative Research and Institutional Twinning Beyond lectures and seminars, the visiting researchers engaged in Institutional Twinning Meetings and exchanged ideas with various research teams and inter-departmental structures at DIST. This included collaborations with SDG11 Lab , R3C and FULL , where they shared insights and explored synergies to advance shared goals.
