GreenFORCE at the Annual RSA Conference 2023

Researchers from Co-PLAN, Institute for Habitat Development, Polytechnic University of Turin and Center for Economic Analyses – CEA presented their working papers at the2023 Regional Studies Association’s (RSA) Annual Conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia, as part of Special Session 51 ’Assessing the Impacts of Just and Green Transition in the Western Balkans Region’, on June 15 and 16, 2023.

This conference was one of the largest knowledge exchange and networking gatherings in 2023. It brought together, from 50 different global territories, academics and policymakers to exchange news, views and research findings from the fields of regional studies and science, regional and economic development, policy and planning.

Special session 51 aimed to generate knowledge on just and green transition, governance, and place-based politics in the Western Balkans and facilitate exchange among EU and Western Balkans researchers. It contributes to filling the gap in Western Balkans place-based evidence and perspectives concerning a combined EU – Western Balkans territorial development.

GreenFORCE researchers presented and discussed the below topics:

  • The Just Transition Process in North Macedonia: A Need for a Place-based Governance Action
  • Social Impact of Green Transition: Assessing the Distributional Implication of Coal Mines Closure in Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Status of Air Quality in Tirana During Quarantine Imposed due to COVID-19 Global Pandemic.
  • The Measures of Territorial Vulnerability: A Contribution to the Green Transition Initiatives in the city of Tirana

The conference was organized by the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana and the Slovenian Ministry of Cohesion and Regional Development and held at the School of Economics and Business, University of Ljubljana.
